A 51-year-old Davenport man has been sentenced to federal prison on child pornography charges, according to the U. S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Iowa.

On Tuesday, David Woods was sentenced to 100 years in federal prison for producing, distributing and possessing child pornography, according to a news release. According to public court documents and evidence presented at trial, Woods orchestrated sexual abuse of two children in his care, produced recordings of the abuse and other sexual images and distributed the images he produced, the release says.

Woods was convicted after a jury trial in September 2023. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was investigated by the Davenport Police Department and was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative against child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched by the Department of Justice. Led by Offices of the United States Attorneys and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children and to identify and rescue victims.
